Meet your celebrant...

I am Julia Jones, a Civil Celebrant based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire and available for a wide range of ceremonies and celebrations that reflect every stage of life.

So, what is a celebrant? Put simply, they are a person who performs or officiates ceremonies at key points in life. These can include Funerals, Weddings and Naming Ceremonies although they can also conduct other ceremonies like Memorials, Interments and Vow renewals. I am fully qualified and experienced in devising and delivering all of these special life occasions.

A celebrant has the freedom to work with couples and families to devise ceremonies that are completely unique to each individual celebration so that they can enjoy the celebration that they truly desire. There really are no rules that have to be followed or restrictions that would apply. The flexibility and personal approach go a long way to contributing to unique and special celebrations- of life, of union and of new birth.

My own background is in education, as a highly successful teacher with almost 30 years’ experience. I am, therefore, very well qualified in the art of storytelling to a wide range of audiences.

I have trained to work as a Civil Celebrant and gained a Level 4 Diploma in Celebrancy with Distinction to prepare me for my work with couples and families. I viewed my training as a starting point that builds on my extensive life experiences and pulled together all of my previous practice of working with people. My learning covered the key areas of Funeral, Wedding and Naming Celebrancy, guiding me towards being able to write and lead services for each type of celebration.

I have undertaken additional training since qualifying in Creating Rituals. I have a selection of different ones that I can incorporate into your ceremony to symbolise key elements, feelings and emotions.

I believe that each ceremony should be unique and personalised to the individual involved. I invest quality time to listen to the stories which reflect a person’s experiences and honour their life in a meaningful celebration. I am a careful listener who really hears what families have to say. With my high-quality writing skills, I use key information to craft a highly personal service that is unique to each life. I have a vast range of experience in public speaking so can lead your service with confidence, clarity and calmness.

I have undertaken extensive Safeguarding Training and currently hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

I love talking to people, my personality is friendly and outgoing and I have a natural talent for putting everyone at ease. I want nothing more than to provide the service that you would like so that your special occasion is exactly as you would like it to be. I have lots of ideas and experience in writing ceremonies that reflect a wide range of individual tastes and requirements.

Please contact me with any additional questions that you may have, I would be delighted to discuss your individual requirements.
